I was extremely pleased and excited when I was asked to draw live caricatures at the Radio City 96.7 Christmas Party at 'Yesterday's Cafe and Bar' in Liverpool.
It was fantastic to meet a lot of the staff and DJ's from the station and I thoroughly enjoyed doing their sketches. Here are a few photos from the night, I'll also upload them to my official website: www.DJBcaricatures.com

QUAKE Poster
Had an e-mail from Johnny, lead singer of local rock band 'Quake', who commissioned a caricature a few months ago (see previous Blog entries). Happy to say they are going to use my picture to promote the band on their new poster!

BAND CARICATURE
This is an old commission for the band Slut Puppy, done last year. It's more of a 'cartoony' portrait compared to my normal caricature style, painted in designer's gouache and acrylic paint.
The band (with a new guitarist) have recently asked me to do another design to use on posters and promotional material, so I'll put it up soon as it's finished!

MILLIE & JAY COMMISSION
This is a commission for Millie and Jay. I first met Millie while doing live caricatures at a party at The Quayside in Runcorn earlier this year, and she contacted me about a private commission of her and her boyfriend.
Being massive music fans, she requested a 'record cover' style drawing which was eventually completed using Prismacolor Art Stix for the flesh tint, and Designer's Gouache for the background.

QUAKE
For the last few weeks, local Liverpudlian band 'Quake' have been performing live at the Railway pub in Runcorn, Cheshire. I was recently asked to do a gift caricature of the whole band!
They seemed really pleased with the end result!
If you love classic rock 'n' roll and enjoy live music, you should definitely check out Johnny, Richie, Billy and Danny at http://www.myspace.com/bandquake

Welcome to the Blog!
This is the first post in my new Blog!
My name is David John Bignall, and I hope that this Blog will help me promote my artwork as a freelance caricature artist. I'm based in Runcorn, Cheshire in the UK, pretty close to the cities of Liverpool and Chester.
I've studied numerous forms of Art & Design all my life - most recently completing my degree in 'Illustration for Children's Publishing' at Glyndwr University in Wrexham, North Wales. However, I've always enjoyed drawing people and portraits, and decided to pursue a career in professional caricature art.
I've had a lot of good advice given to me from various established artists such as Mike Giblin and Wayne Savage, you should seriously check out their work if your interested in character design and illustration, it's amazing! Many thanks guys!
